Electrochemical and Magnetic Immunoassays
Electrochemical formats
Dr Robert Porter has developed electrochemical immunoassay platforms using conducting materials such as polymers silver nano-particles in a microfluidic device.
The use of silver in this process, resulted in the foundation of the company AgPlus. The technology involves using silver nano-particles as an electro-active measurand. An electrochemical potential is used to dissolve the particles and accumulation stripping voltammetry, using differential pulse as the stripping step.

Magnetic Particles
Using Hall effect measurement we have, in collaboration, been able to develop a highly sensitive immunoassay platform employing microfluidic strips.
Using this methodology, we have also developed blood coagulation systems for INR (the time it takes for blood to clot) measurement.
